Frost-free room with an electric wall heater

An electric wall heater is a practical solution for keeping a small space frost-free and/or for additional heating. This is a so-called convector, which contains no fan or other moving parts. It is silent (no noise) and has a smart built-in electronic control.

How many watts of heating power do I need?

To determine the number of watts is you can assume the floor area of the room to be heated. The table below serves as an indication. In practice, the heat demand is very dependent on the situation. With little insulation you should use the lowest m² value. For frost protection only, use the highest m² value. Tip: if in doubt, use a little more power (this does not mean more energy consumption, but does mean faster heating).

2...7 m² = 400 Watt

3...10 m² = 600 Watt

9...12 m² = 800 Watt

12...16 m² = 1000 Watt

14...20 m² = 1250 Watt

18...25 m² = 1500 Watt

22...32 m² = 2000 Watt

24...40 m² = 2500 Watt

Smart control saves 15% on energy costs

Modern convectors are equipped with an electronic control, which works with a temperature sensor on the underside of the appliance. They have a special mode for frost-free-keeping, which is useful for chalets and summer cottages during your absence. An electronic temperature control is more reliable and accurate (less energy consumption) than the mechanical thermostat of conventional convectors.

Very easy to install

An electric wall heater (convector) is very easy to install: screw on the hanging bracket, hang the heater and connect the mains voltage. A flue is not necessary and, moreover, a convector takes up very little space.

Where can a convector be used?

In principle, a convector is suitable for any room indoors: as additional heating in a (living) room or for occasional use in hobby room, home office or study. For rooms with temporary heat requirements, it makes sense not to use the central heating system. Electric heating brings rooms up to temperature much faster. Electric heating is also often more economical in terms of energy savings.

To compensate for a sudden cold spell, a convector can also be used in a room with underfloor heating, which requires a long heating time. By installing a convector you increase your living comfort considerably.

What does convection mean?

A convector draws its (cold) supply air in at the bottom and distributes it (after heating) at the top. This creates a constant heat flow. This natural air circulation (without using fans) is called convection.
