Keeping water pipes frost-free?

For a frost-free water line, we recommend FV-10 heat tape. Available from stock in a wide variety of lengths from 1 to 100 meters. Each heat tape is ready to plug in and comes with a 2-meter power cord with a grounded plug. If necessary, the power cord may be extended.

Heat tape is self-regulating along its entire length. It can therefore also be used partly indoors / partly outdoors. Examples: condensate drain and water pipe of houseboat. Thanks to the tracing principle, this heat tape can never get too hot. It is therefore well suited to plastic pipes.

Tip: first wrap the PVC pipe with aluminum tape for better heat conduction and heat distribution.

Preventing freezing of drinking water

Because the heat tape is finished with watertight sleeves, heat tape may be used in drain pipes or cattle drinking troughs. The jacket of the heat tape contains no harmful substances, so it is safe for use in drinking water. Application in a tyleen hose is also possible.

Uninsulated pipe up to Ø32 mm with cable inside remains frost-free down to -30 °C.
A pipe up to Ø32 mm, with 20 mm insulation thickness remains frost-free down to -20 °C.

Tips for extra protection: apply longer heat tape (back-and-forth or spiral) or use thicker insulation.
